BANDS WANTED! London music scene 2011 - first glance

In the last year I've been working in a music band, getting ready for live gigs. In the last two months we started looking around town for gigs for our band.

Personally, this is my first entrance into the London music scene.

Thus, I found it quite amusing when I noticed many 'event organisers' asking bands to bring 30 'fans' in some venue in E10 or so. To spend days on a phone convincing families and friends to come. (read more)

X-Factor: The last nail in Pop-Music's coffin

TV shows are bothering me.

I do have a feeling that the whole world becomes more stupid with these shows. You can't avoid them: someone around you is watching them. Be it a friend or family or even the TV displays on the stores. The News talk about them the Newspapers talk about them.

Take the Music Idol (Britain's Got Talent, X-factor) and its varieties throughout the world.

It changed the music scene, it gave new opportunities to singers... But it didn't do any good for musicians, nor to help creativity.

The price of a song

What is the price of a song? The price of a CD? How one measures the price of art? It seems that there is no clear answer to that question. One sets a price that (s)he believes a piece of art is worthy. In this case, a recorded, digitally copied piece of music composition(s).

And if it sells, it's OK. If it doesn't, it's OK nevertheless, because the value of a good recording doesn't go down in price.  (read more)
