University Challenge

Oh, BBC. You, who gave light to the world, you became blind.

Someone must have said this before.

What prompted me to write this blog was the latest 'scandal' with the BBC quiz University Challenge.

One of the contestants (winner's team) ceased to be a student during the quiz and that 'broke the rules'. So now we have BBC for several days trying to make a story out of it. They call the (great) students in front of the camera and ask them questions from which a 12 year old will be ashamed: how do you feel about it, surely you must feel angry, how do you friends and family feel...? And for days the guys are telling BBC and the media that it's OK, it's just a game, probably the best game in the existence of the quiz; that they do not want to get involved.
And you get those pity (BBC) journalists trying to provoke them... Provokers! That's the word for them. Back in old, good socialistic Yugoslavia, those people would be questioned by the Police, lol :-).

I thought, as BBC is a paid service, they don't need this sort of publicity. They should serve us by informing and educating us.

Watching BBC for days provoking some bright students to get them involved in some lowly, miserably quarrel, and watching with great pleasure the reactions of the students I think to myself: at least maybe the next generations wont be provokers.
